Photo of the Week – Truly Golden Finches

44th Parallel Photography’s Photo of the Week is of a female American Goldfinch. A common yet beautiful bird. Beautiful to look at, but they also have wonderful songs and calls that they sing as they flit about our feeders. Just because a bird species is a common backyard feeder bird doesn’t mean they aren’t worth photographing. They are great birds to practice your techniques and you can end up producing some fabulous images of them. I also used this common species as a chance to start learning to use my new Nikon SB-910 Speedlight flash unit. Where better to practice than the comfort and convenience of your own front yard and on a bird that you know will show up nearly every day.
